Yes and no.

Whole pieces of music may remain in memory.

But composing or improvising is more like language

it that it brings new combinations of notes together with

rhythm

instrumentation

and perhaps new lyrics.

If you are going to scramble eggs with cheese you need not add butter or oil.  Just put the cheese in the skillet first and heat until it starts to soften.  It has plenty of fat to coat the pan.  Now add the eggs and stir quickly with a silicone spoon.
