  • "Getting old ain't for wimps" is something I've said a lot lately. Facing death, or loss of mental, emotional or physical stamina and acuity was something that happened to the other guy. When you find that it's part of your own reality and begin to struggle with it, that's when you begin to tap into a reserve of strength made for this time of life. I may not want to believe it or accept it, but the truth is, I'm getting old. That's the reality and I'll never be able to do those things that came easy at 40 or even 50. There's a trade off though. You become sort of an "elder statesman"in the family group that has much to share. The trick is doing that without living in the past. Physical and mental aging may make that impossible with time though.
