I fully believe that those who the shutdown does not affect "directly" don't care that much about it. Why should they? If one isn't affected directly by something its easy to overlook or even ignore it. If an elephant in India knocked down someone's house, would you care? What if it knocked down your house?
If the shutdown affected politicians and trump directly (especially financially), it would be over in a matter of minutes. Alas, while thousands of hard working americans are furloughed or forced to work without pay, our politicians still get paid - even though they don't do anything!
There needs to be some reckoning or punishment set in place so that it DOES affect both the president AND the rest of our politicians in Washington. Let 'em shut down the government. Let 'em bicker for months on end about it. But at the same time let THEM the pain the people they're screwing feel - 2-fold!!! And I mean ALL OF THEM - Prez, vice-prez, congress, house!!! THEN see how long a shutdown lasts. What if they were forced to use THEIR finances (monetary, real estate, etc.) to pay the salaries of the ones they furlough or force to work without pay - with NO return (meaning they don't get that money back - ever). Let them feel our pain. Let THEM work without being paid until they resolve their petty issues. Let them know that they can't use the American people as bargaining chips in order to get their way. These people are OUR "servants" (they are there to serve us)! WE pay their salaries! WE gave them their jobs! Wishful thinking, I know. Those in power (government or private sector) always ensure that they get money no matter what - even they get fired! (golden parachutes, guaranteed lifelong income, etc.)
I support and agree with everything you said m'dear. BUT believe it or not there are allegedly some of those folks who are being crippled financially who SUPPORT ultimatum boy and told him to hang tough hang in and keep going. According to him of course. Now whether that's true or not that is his story and he is gonna stick with it. I do believe there are few people who will gladly sacrifice their family's well-being on the altar of stable boy worship. They are happy to be his sacrifical lambs because they adore him worship him are besotted with him. They think all truth resides within him and that even though things may be tough now he is doing it for the good of the country. I'm not joking. How many of them there are like that I don't know but I PITY THEIR CHILDREN bigly. If the shutdown cost utlimatum boy a dime it would be over stat. If all the pols who are toady sycophants/spineless slime they'd protest bigly loudly incesssantly. But they don't give a sh** and so they do nothing about it because it doesn't affect them one bit! I think the cause of the tragedy should be punished for it . Maybe soon? Thank you for your very thoughtful reply! :)
