  • Maybe he’s going to buy all the people whose wages have been affected by the shutdown McDonald’s for dinner tomorrow night. That would be Bigly nice of him.

Ok, Mr. Trump, nice and slow now.... say it with me..... "I ... resign."   No, not re-sine... re-zine.  Now lets try it again.... "I ...resign."   Perfect! (who's a good boy!  Who's a good boy!)

The former would be an uncharacteristically wise move, the latter would be a source of some political contention.
Whatever ends the hostage crisis Trump created. Those folks have bills to pay.

They have options available to pay bills.
The banks will work with these workers with low to 0% interest. There are programs within the banks for these people. They are also can sign up for unemployment.

Gee, it completely escapes you that none of that should even be necessary. How unconscionable this all is.

But hey, as long as you have a job, what do you care, let them eat cake, right, M2C?

Fact is, NOT ALL the Federal workers have been given the option of filing for unemployment, California just did, in defiance of current federal law. Meanwhile thousands are forced work without pay to even fuel up their cars to get to work, or to buy medicines they need right now. Your boy Trump is even more indifferent to this mass plight than you are. Maybe they should all just suck it up and walk to work, eh?

What state is not allowing shutdown workers to receive unemployment?

You are right it should not be necessary, Pelosi needs to come to the table and negotiate to get the gov open. Not vacationing in Hawaii or Puerto Rico or wherever she is headed to at the moment. She is standing in the way. President Trump agreed to everything she said she wanted for border security but still refuses to give any funding for the wall/fence/barrier. But she has no a problem with CA's border fence. In fact, CA wanted their fence upgraded first. President Trump should have told them no not until we get funding. Trump closed the govt, remember? He “took the mantle”. He owns it. Federal workers who are working (to include without pay at present) are not eligible for unemployment according to federal statute. Do some homework, won’t you?

    Consider the following:
    1) Had the failed Republican Congress passed the required budgets before the beginning of the fiscal year (Oct 1) and funded the entire govt, there would be no fodder for this shutdown.

    2) Had the failed Republican Congress provided Trump his wall money during the first 2 years of his Presidency, when Republicans controlled the entire govt, there would be no impetus for this shutdown.

    3) Had the failing Republican President been as demanding with the failed Republican Congress, he may have gotten his wall money before now. But he nixed previous offers from them. What he is doing now is naked political grandstanding. Actual citizens are paying the price for it.

Yet here are you are blaming the new regime for old failures of the other side. Both parties have failed egregiously, but your attempt at partisan scapegoating falls flat.

Your fascination with cherry picking polls has ignored the fact that a majority of Americans still disapprove of both a wall AND Trump. Is that NEWS to you? This post was edited by Don Barzini at January 19, 2019 6:59 AM MST
