Lots of famous/infamous sayings sound real good and folks quote them alot but they make no sense and are untrue. D'ya have a favorite?

Happy is the bride the sun shines on (how many of those brides got divorced?)
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life (unless you die today)
A trip of one thousand miles begins with the first step (so does every trip of any length doesn't it?)
Absence makes the heart grow fonder (unless either or both of you fall in love with others)
Out of sight out of mind (unless you are obsessed or truly love someone)
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree (unless the apple has a mind of its own)
A stitch in time saves nine (oh c'mon! How can anyone KNOW that?)
Don't count your chickens before they hatch (everyone does)
Don't put all your eggs in one basket (the truly devoted do..those who worship GOD and "the boss" do)
Slippery slope(excuse to not do the right thing)
Forewarned is forearmed (how many of you touch WET PAINT signs?)
It's always darkest before the dawn (except in Alaska where nights/days last six months)
