I have both, but I don't use the kettle very often. It's all about the coffee. If I drink tea, it's usually later in the afternoon, and I just nuke my water or use the K-Cup side of the coffee maker to heat the water up.
No, but just moments ago I went in the kitchen and turned on the oven (so I thought -__-) to supplement my heating system and sat back down to drink coffee. A couple minutes later the whole house is smoked up because it turns out I turned on a burner instead (yes, it had a pan of grease from last night on it -__-).
What's worse is my "heating system" consists of space heaters and over the last few days 4 of them have shorted out, one burned the cord completely off. I have to freeze at night so as to not burn up in this old shack.
Edit: Sorry about your house. It would rip me to pieces if I lost everything at once. I keep my important box/papers in the trunk of the car.

No, it is off right now. I cut back to 10oz of decaffinated coffee a day, to see if it would cut back on my "nervous shakes."

I have an Oxo electric tea kettle. I use it almost every day, though it is not on at the moment.
