So many people were born with blinkers Rosie and indoctranated with stupidity from birth.....So many people still believe in the things taught by thiers distant forebearers from thousands of years ago......
If you were born with your head buried deep in the sand , it's almost impossible to teach an old dog new tricks then.....  :(

That is so true D! "...born with blinkers and indoctrinated with stupidity from birth...". I LOVE that sweetie. Nicely stated. Succinct. TRUE. So as ye are born ye live your life right? You never can escape the circumstances of your birth I guess. To the extent that you had no say in it you can't really  be blamed. So we're stuck with millions of these folks who don't have a clue through no fault of their own? Sheesh. Thank you for your thoughtful reply and Happy Monday to thee D! :) ((hugs))

I can only look on in wonderment at my little nieces and nephews Rosie....more so the girls as they just seem to absorb so much information as they play with things.....
We don't credit them with any knowledge when they are born ,but they learn far quicker than adults ...

I have been amazed at just what they know ,they play with tv controllers and their parents mobile touch screen phones....and they work out how to use them.....mu youngest niece at nine months started walking ....she is into every button and climbs like a monkey if she has no sock or shoes on...
She can work the tv and find her on own  programmes....she can now use a touch screen phone as well, my sister was asking how to do a certain thing on her phone in my parents home while we were al there.....she was sitting on her mums lap and her little finger came over and did it for her....

The room was in uproar with laughter as we all see what she did....She knew exactly what she did and just looked about for approval and was laughing to....she was may be 15 months old when she did that....lol
Ake here to go get her shoes of find something for you and she runs of so quick and gets it.....

Babies begin to learn things from the instant they are born....their brains are like sponges and absorb so much and far more than most adults realize...
The old sayings of yesteryear that kids should be seen and not heard is something of real stupidity...
The first 2-3 years of a babies life is the most important time ever.....All the babies that my brothers and sisters had were never excluded from anything.......They are all so very social in every way really...
    mostly my parents teachings ...

I expect you realize that your niece is a GENIUS don't you sweetie? I agree with you about the first 3 years. By the time they are six they are pretty well fixed. I think about 80% of whom they will become they already are. I taught my son read at an early age and when he was three he got a library card. Of course he could print his name. You have to teach your child the alphabet...upper and lower case...first before he/she can read. We went to the library every week and each got the maximum number of books allowed. I think it was ten. We could keep them a couple of weeks and so we'd return the ones we'd read and got more. It opened the world to him and I think you know he is a college professor now. I taught him to read which gave him the tools to learn and enjoy and satisfy his curiousity on his own. Reading opens the doors of the world. He is a genius BUT any child can learn to read if the parents aren't lazy and will spend the time and make it a game. Teach them the alphabet. I started reading to him when he was six months old. He'd sit on my lap and I opened the book and I pointed out each word as I would read it. We did that daily. He also observed that I was always reading when I wasn't doing momly things around the house. It worked. It can work for ANYONE who is willing to invest the time. If you give your kids a love of learning at a very early age then school becomes a place of excitement and delight. A place they look forward to going and they love teachers and they love doing homework and they love taking tests. The exact opposite of most kids whose parents completely ignore their intellect and ship them off to school at the age of six  pure as the driven snow intellectually with a blank page brain and then expect the teachers to perform miracles when that window of learning has already closed by 80%! A ridiculous  waste of brainpower. SIGH. Thank you for your thoughtful reply and sharing!  :) This post was edited by RosieG at February 4, 2019 2:35 PM MST

I noticed with my sisters girls that the slightly older girls kind if taught the next in line with the things they were able to do and also with speech Rosie....The younger one just follow and mimic their older sister.....The elder one is a year and two weeks older and is just becoming able to link sentences together.....
They are unbelievably kind to each other.....Give eithe a biscuit and she will ask in their own unique way for another for her sister....They each have their own unique of comunicating with adults and another between theirselves...
All my brothers and sisters kids are very sociable and as babies were passed around to most people that visited....My dad and his guys are working at my sisters at the moment......the girls are now two and a half and one and a half years old....both girls are crazy over one guy that works for my dad....when they see him they both begin calling his name and hold their arms out to be picked up by him ........it's just so amusing to watch...they come in from the cold for tea.......and the girls just rush to be near him and my cousin.....
The elder one walked on her first birthday.....the younger one at nine months and maybe crawled for one week only...
My parents were always a big fan of books and reading....and also wild life programs ...as kids we had to watch Richard Attenborough programes Sunday afternons ....it was amazing to hear my dad waffle on about them....

Hes far worse now he's a bit older...lol.  Like him ,it's an addiction of mine now also....lol.
