When you learn to appreciate and enjoy the foods of other cultures don't you learn how to appreciate them? How could it be otherwise?

How could you possibly LOVE tamales, enchiladas, taquitos, chile rellenos and HATE MEXICANS? Or LOVE matzo ball soup, chopped liver and really lean corned beef and be anti-semitic? Or LOVE Falafel and hate folks from the middle-east? It does not compute. What foods do you LOVE? Why ?

There is so much wrong with this idea, I don't know where to begin.

Just because someone is an artist with food, does not prove that they are a good person.

I see what you mean sort of, because you have to have some soul and love to create a good dish, but it certainly doesn't mean that a culture is good or a people are good just because they can make good grub.

In your opinion Sharon. You have a right to your opinion. I have a right to my opinion. I said NOTHING at all  about people being good or bad. That is nowhere in my question. That exists only in whatever baggage you bring with you.  My point is that if you APPRECIATE something about a culture, say the food, you are predisposed (or should be) to think well of the CULTURE that creates the food you love to eat. It could be true if you love the music or the literature or the art as well. Whether the person who makes the dish you enjoy eating is a "good" person or is not so hot is a separate issue. The gasbag is telling his toady sycophants that people of color are all bad and unwelcome and undesirable. I am saying that isn't true and I am using enjoyment of the foods of other cultures as proof of that. Why would you eat and enjoy the foods created by rapists and murderers and terrorists and drug pushers? Either my point is lost on you or you get it and think it is not pertinent. Your choice. Your decision. Your right. Thank you for your reply. This post was edited by RosieG at February 13, 2019 3:08 AM MST
