The measles epidemic is growing and spreading. Due to those folks who REFUSE to vaccinate their kids? Or GOD's WILL? Well?

"Epidemic" ... BAH!  It's about 50 people.  Mostly kids whose parents don't believe in vaccinations for whatever reason.
The irony is before the "epidemic", the CDC had Oregon listed as a potential health hazard area due to low vaccination rates.
Since news of the "epidemic" broke, healthcare facilities can't keep up with the demand for vaccinations.

It's all a "government conspiracy" and "health hazard" ... until people are actually threatened with an outbreak the vaccine can prevent.

You really don't trust any part of gubment do you Walt? Not even the CDC. I notice how much you have put in quotation marks which means one of two things...you are either  directly quoting someone and don't want to take credit for words not yours OR you are being sarcastic. So the CDC is untrustworthy? What about NASA and NOAA (sp?) Is there nothing gubment-based in which you trust? SIGH. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday to you! :)

    You misunderstand, Rosie.
I was pointing out that the CDC had Oregon officially listed as an area where there was potential for this situation, because of Oregon's low vaccination level.  Thus, the risk (and cause) of the current situation was known to government before it happened - and they were still powerless to prevent it.

"Epidemic" is in quotes because I don't believe 50 cases ... in a state with a population of over 4.14 million ... qualifies.
A more accurate term would be "outbreak".

"Government conspiracy" and "health hazard" are reasons people give for not getting vaccinations.  Neither of which has any basis in facts.

As to distrusting government ... yes.  A healthy distrust of government is a first step towards controlling it.

I find it amazingly ironic of Jews to say "Never again" ... then be in favor of disarming The People, leaving only government with weapons.
Given their thousands of years of history being subjected to government abuse, that group has obviously failed to learn the lesson against trusting government to protect them.

The American government has a history of turning against people, including those who were allies as well as its own citizens.
There are many federal agencies which exist contrary to the limited federal powers of the Constitution.

Apologies Walt. I screwed up. Thanks for taking the time to PATIENTLY unscrew me misunderstanding-wise. I could give ya lotsa excuses but I personally wouldn't buy any of them so I sure as heck won't try to sell them! SIGH! I just can't understand why folks don't do all they can to protect their kids. Some parent of an autistic kid connected autistic with vaccinations once upon a time because there had to be an outside "OTHER" to blame. Then folks bandwagonned and now we see the result of that. If your kid dies from a disease that a vaccination could have prevented but you refused to let the kid have well how do you live with that? Same thing as those Christian Scientists who believed God would provid so they just sat back doing nothing letting their kids get sick and die because they didn't believe in doctors or medicine. Do they hoodwink themselves into believing whatever they did was for their child's best interests or was it rather some hoodoo voodoo they hooked into?  Sure I feel sorry for those parents but I feel far sorrier for the kids they let die. Thank you for your reply. This post was edited by RosieG at February 14, 2019 9:20 AM MST

Yes its due to the fact some didn't vaccinate their kids (don't blame God for people's bad choices).

People refuse vaccinations for different reasons - religious objections, fear that vaccinations may cause autism, allergies, etc..  Unfortunately, many refuse due to ignorance.  Just because someone else said something was bad doesn't necessarily make it universally bad.  Yet people use these as reasons (excuses) not to vaccinate their children.  Granted, no one wants to see their child hurt.  Yet many simply assume that since "so-and-so" said it was bad, or "so-and-so" had a bad reaction that they won't even try - despite any facts to the contrary.  What they don't take into fact is that their decision not only affects their child, but (possibly) every other child/adult their child comes into contact with.
    {just because a person was vaccinated against an illness doesn't mean that illness can't still affect them (I was vaccinated against chickenpox when I was very young, but have subsequently had it 5 times).}

We cannot isolate our kids.  They will interact with other people (even if by simply breathing).  Germs and viruses are out there 24/7.. lurking.  Unless there is a valid medical reason for a child not to be vaccinated (they have no immune system, allergies and such) all children should be vaccinated.  By not vaccinating ones child, one might literally be putting the rest of the world at risk - as well as that child.

Thank you for your thoughtful answer Shuhak. Isn't it Christian Scientists who not believe in doctors and when their kids are dying they just say it is "God's Will"? Happy Thursday.

  • Thanks to the anti-vaxxers, more children are once again needlessly suffering.  Don't even get me started on this one.   Anti-vaxxers are not only idiotic, they're evil.
