Most of those have negative connotations. The only difference between someone who can make strategic decisions, someone who can make tactical decisions, and someone who is "spur of the moment"; is how far in the future they plan for.
So a MASTER CHESS PLAYER is the ultimate in strategic. They play many moves ahead of the opponent I'm told. You can be an honest honorable straightshooter then? Is don strategic? Thank you for your reply Walt and Happy Wednesday! :)
They're the "ultimate" in chess, anyway. At least until we build a supercomputer that can beat them every time. Of course, chess has a finite number of moves. So it's easier to be a strategic chess player, than to be a general who has to take every possible move of his opponent on a battlefield into consideration. Not to mention external forces such as the weather and political climate.
