You're talking about the days before the Democrat Party became a haven and refuge for the lunatic fringe. You can't have relationships like Gipper and Tip after hours any longer. Where people have decided that co-operation is impossible and undesirable, you'll never find it again. But, I wouldn't want to see any compromise with the bizarre form of radicalism the left is promoting.
