Ever look in the mirror and talk to yourself? Why?

  • As a teenager, I did a few times.

    I was trying to see what I looked like to others when talking about different things, having different feelings. What did other's see when they looked at me?

    After a while, I realised it didn't matter - knowing didn't change anything.

    But it does raise this issue of metaphor - how honestly do we look inside and examine ourselves?

    Do we know how others perceive us? How we affect others? Affect one another?

    How much is the sympathy or clash of personalities?

    I know I often have no clue what others think of me - unless they say something direct and specific.

    I can guess based on clues, but can never be sure unless I ask.

    And often I'm too afraid to ask, just in case what comes back might hurt.
