Any who sew know what REMNANTS are. Odds and ends of weird sizes of fabric leftover from a roll. The don is made of remnants. Didja know?

He is a patchwork quilt of leftovers. All for sale at a very CHEAP price to liquidate and move the merchandise not yet sold to get rid of it and make room for the top grade high grade worthwhile stuff. If you ever wonder why he is so ill-suited to anything that is why. He is a conglomerartion of odd sized end pieces, discards.

The Anchor Bible Dictionary describes it as "What is left of a community after it undergoes a catastrophe".

    Just sayin

I don't know what an Anchor Bible is Walt. I got my Bible in 1948 at the local Presbyterian church we attended. It is quite well used and tattered and in fact I have to keep a rubber band around it. But I will never exchange it for a brand new one. I taught  Sunday School to little kids at that church when I was 12. Too many good memories are contained in that Bible. My mom was a seamstress and always shopped for remnants which were significantly less expensive. As for using the word in another context I cannot recall ever having done so. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday to thy! :)

It's similar to the Strong's Bible Concordance, I gather.
In the Bible, "remnant" is usually used to refer to the Hebrews/Israelites when they are sent into slavery.

You're giving (sewing) remnants a bad name.  One can make some good and interesting items from remnants (quilts, shirts, rugs).  When I was young I wore shirts my mom made from remnants (and they looked better than anything the other kids wore).  My sister, who's a seamstress, still uses remnants in her sewing for clients.  Bolo rugs from fabric remnants are quite nice and sturdy.

A better comparison would be belly button lint - useless, annoying, and hard to get rid of.  Some aren't bothered by it while others can't stand it.   This post was edited by Shuhak at March 5, 2019 1:49 AM MST

My mother was a seamstress Shuhak. She was a sample maker for various designers in downtown Los Angeles. She was also a furrier in the days when fur coats were not an abomination as they are today. I used to shopping with her and we would find treasures. They were always much cheaper. I am well aware of their value. My comparison stands as stated. Little don is a patchwork quilt of odd sizes and colors and patterns. There is nothing of value in him. He is made of the remnants of the remnants. The fabric  isso ugly no one would buy them. As far as belly button lint I don't have any. Cannot remember ever having had any. I don't why you've been bothered by it but it is foreign to me so it would never occur to me to relate anything or anyone to it. I can relate to remnants however and for that reason that is what I chose to compare little don to. Different strokes for different folks. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday to thy! :)

Say, listen here------ My momma made quilts in her spare time. She did such fine work that she won 'Best of Show' at the local county fair. Trump never got a Best of Show!

She did bh? Wow congrats on that retroactively to your momma! We used to attend the POMONA COUNTY FAIR when I was a kid and I loved going to them. There were displays of all kinds of things. Award-winning jams and other foods...hand-sewn articles...they had award-winning pigs even in a different section where the 4H club showed their stuff. I remember the fun of it. Kinda like a carnival without the rides. My mom was a seamstress. A sample maker for designers in downtown Los Angeles. She made all our clothes...I have a younger sister. As far as award for little don he is holding out for the Nobel Peace Prize. SIGH. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :)

So O'Bamba gets the Peace Prize for not doing anything, and Trump will get nothing for getting a few clicks off the 'Doomsday Clock'.
