Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» " Hi. How are you? Been thinking about you. I miss you." Are there people to whom you'd like to say that but you lost touch?
I believe I scared a few people off Facebook, by doing that. True story. I think they read too much into it, and thought I was making a pass at them. LOL
You know Walt I do a lot of qualifying just to stem that tide from flowing. I remind folks I'm 81 and harmless. I sometimes will parenthesize (platonically is a favorite word) lest anyone anywhere get the wrong idea. I compliment folks all the time because I say what I think. I will also tell you if I disagree with you. You know that first-hand. I don't edit in advance but sometimes I do try to qualify. As far as I know no one has taken it the wrong way. I, on the other hand, seem to be oblivious to it. My son once told me that I had to be hit on the head with a baseball bat to recognize a pass. Well some folks think everyone has the hots for them and read into nothing something. I can't stand people like that so I try to avoid being one of them. I always figured if someone liked me he'd ask me out on a date. Otherwise folks were just being kind and friendly. Also..and this is just between thee and me and probably not remotely pertinent but it popped into my head...once long ago when I was visiting my son who was attending Berkeley for his undergraduate work he and a friend and I visited that marvelous children's museum THE EXPLORATORIUM. Now his friend was explaining the point of each exhibit in DETAIL. Engineer's brain. I got testy. I wanted to just experience ll of it on my own in my own way. So I just walked off and left them! The friend later told me how my son explained my lack of interest and I always thought it was so charming. I don't know what his exact words were but here's the gist of it.."my mom is like a friendly very curious little puppy whose tail is wagging furiously with joy and delight bouncing around from place to place". I have always loved that description and I think it fits me to a T...surprisingly even more so as I age. Go figger! So I hear ya. Thank you for your brief reply and apologies for the length of mine! :)
