Which book should be made into a movie? Which movie based on a book should never have been made it was so awful?

The problem with making books into movies is ... they never match what I imagined, when I read the books.   LOL

That said, I would like to see some LitRPG books turned into movies.  Or a TV series.
What is a LitRPG book?  Imagine a cross between The Matrix and D&D.  (Or like the old Dungeons & Dragons cartoon series.)

You're gonna hafta help me out here m'dear. Please and thank you. You know I am familiar with D&D only peripherally. My son  and his friends played it for a few years in their early teens. I never played it but I think I told you that I had asked my son to create a Dungeon with unicorns where only good things happened. He tried but told me it just was impossible! As for The Matrix I saw it and I cringed and shivered. Could that truly be what our "lives" are like? How would we know? But a cross between the two? I'm trying very hard to imagine that and I cannot. So how would it work? The bodies in the individual sacs are just dreaming about a life they are not living. Where does a dungeon, DM and other players come in? How do they interact among a sea of human beings who are held prisoner for life independent of one another? Thank you for your reply! :)

Usually, the book plot is that somebody is playing a D&D-type game in virtual reality and gets stuck.
Or they are paid to test a new Virtual technology, in a D&D-type game world.

Though one of my favorite series, the entire universe is connected to The System ... but the Earth was temporarily knocked out of it by the meteor that killed the dinosaurs.  When this is discovered by alien explorers, they reset the connection ... and many people on Earth are turned into D&D races (Elfs, Dwarves, etc) to "rebalance" the ecosystem ... and dungeons appear ... and everybody can see their stats ... etc.

The first HOBBIT in the 80's.  IT SUCKED SO BAD I CANNOT BELIEVE ANYONE MADE AN ATTEMPT TO DO IT AGAIN.

The difference between the modern Hobbit and this old rendition is seriously like comparing a nursery rhyme to a college textbook.
