Leslie was very much a 60s girl. Not a great talent, but she did pretty well. I was not aware of any movement other than the Vietnam War opposition.
Leslie is a man's name. The female equivalent is LESLEY. If you didn't know that already then you can hardly say I am "this out of it". My answer was a deliberately sarcastic response to your usage of the incorrect spelling, which to anyone who takes everything literally had no connection with the video you posted (which, incidentally, uses the correct spelling). If you are going to treat different spellings as interchangeable when it is obvious they are not, then you should expect sarcastic answers. Now, look at the original label of that song you posted:

Where on those does it say "Leslie Gore"? I'll say it again, the spellings of that name are not gender-neutral or interchangeable and every time I see them incorrectly used I will continue to post sarcastic responses until there comes the time when everybody gets it right first time. Also, for your information, the actress Andie McDowell also uses a different spelling from that of my name. so that wasn't a very good example to use either. JUST BECAUSE THE PRONUNCIATION IS THE SAME, THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE INTERCHANGEABLE. From all this, you can see for yourself that I am far from "out of it", it's just that I have a finely-developed sense for the correct spelling. What's wrong with that?
LESLEY was very much a 60s girl. "Leslie" is the masculine equivalent of that name. The spellings are not gender-neutral or interchangeable. Please don't copy other people's errors. I still don't understand how anyone could mix up Leslie and Lesley anyway. I've known the difference since I was in junior school. See also the images I posted on my response to Sharonna's response.
