I guess I'm very slow. I never heard of Democratic Socialists until just very recently. Is it a MOVEMENT or a poltical party?

Was/is Bernie Sanders a Democratic Socialist? Is that what he was in 2016?

Is Democratic Socialism going to absorb and extinguish the Democratic Party just as trumpican absorbed and extinguished the Republican Party?

I never got a vote on THAT. No one asked my opinion. There were no flyers from the Democratic Party asking folks to vote on it. At least I got nuthin'!

So here I am perplexed puzzled flummoxed. Am I a Democratic ? I don't even know what the he** that means. Are we all specializing like doctors do? Used to be you had a GP period. Now you surgeons who specialize on the right eye while others specialize on the left eye.  Absurd exaggeration or right on point?
Same with politics. We had Democrats and Republicans. The Republicans were conquered and destroyed by trumpicans. Are Democrats gonna likewise be conquered and destroyed by Democratic Socialists? OY VEY!

Any Dem out there who can tell me what the he** is going on and do you approve?

    Yes, Bernie is a Dem Socialist. Yes, he was one in 2016. And now the Dem Pres candidates have all taken it into their platform.

    Both of us grew up at a time when it was considered right and dignified to stand on your own two feet and make your own way in the world by working and supporting yourself.  You have espoused that in your posts just as you have at times espoused socialist beliefs as well.  In recent years the Democratic party has adopted increasingly socialist platforms which is the reason many of those of us who were previously Democrats have become Republicans with no change in beliefs or values.  My husband and I very much believe in helping those less fortunate than ourselves which my religion teaches me to do.  But we believe we must do that as private autonomous individuals  rather than placing the burden of that on the government,
