The guy* who put together the cheating scheme for the wealthy to lie/buy their kids into college said he did it for 761 FAMILIES!

*His name is SINGER.

Apparently these cheating parents had photos taken of their kids "playing" the sport they were riding as a sport-athlete into college. Sports THEY NEVER PLAYED. Which means the kids knew what was going on and were not victims of their sneaky cheating lying wealthy parents. They went right along with it. Daddy knows best. Momma wants what's best for you. USC/UCLA among them which, as a Californian distresses me bigly. It gets more disgusting as more specifics/particulars are released. What these parents did TO their children is far worse than what they did FOR their children.

Like I said. There are many more than the 50 who got caught.

I think there are many more than this one guy who got caught too.    They are half Snake Oil Salesmen who can actually produce real oil but do so under questionable practices.

I am BEYOND  FURIOUS about this Sharon. My kid is a university professor and chair of his department s you know. I'm not saying I groomed him for his life but early on he learned how to read(he was 3) and we would  walk on college campuses close to wherever we lived and pick up leaves or pretty rocks. Then we'd go into the buildings and open a door where no sounds were coming. Empty! We'd go in and walk around and just absorb whatever bits and or pieces of learning that were left from the classes. I never said I wanted him to teach. But I always revered teachers. I think teaching is noblest profession and I thought that for years before he was born. So to learn that the whole education system was trashed and trampled on by greed malice evildoers who manipulated it Is crushing. The university at which my son teaches is not on the list. Thank GOD.. That was not one of the universities mentioned. That is an insult to all educators who are honorable. An INSULT to all the kids who worked their butts off to get good grades so they could get into a good university. An INSULT to all the parents whose most important priority and responsibility was to educate their children. An INSULT to all the honorable people in all the honorable colleges/universities  in all the decades before this monstrous scam occurred. I honestly want to punch someone in the jaw as hard as I can. Me. 81. Not an athlete. Slender. I swear I would if I could. I could spit nails. I am not a physically violent person. I don't slam doors or break dishes or kick the trashcan.  The only other time I got this angry I was 14 and I smashed my hand through the window of the utility room door. I don't remember why but I scared myself. This time I'm not scared. I'm enraged and I'm also heartbroken. Thank you for your reply and the graphic Sharon. I wish we could rid the entire world of people like this. I do so wish. :( This post was edited by RosieG at March 14, 2019 10:44 AM MDT

You are beyond furious for a good reason, Rosie.  The only reason why people are hoodwinked about this topic is because they just expect this kind of corruption at the top.  The creme-de-la-creme do what is just expected that they would do and you and I would do if we were in their shoes.  THAT IS WHAT THESE PEOPLE ON THIS THREAD WHO ARE DEFENDING THIS BEHAVIOR ARE SAYING.

They think this is normal and we are jealous.  That is what they think.  What kind of world is this????

They think you would do the same as Felicity Huffman and step on a smarter kid than yours because you can PAY.  That is how Trump is reigning strong.  Because of this mentality.

I don't think so E. I pray to GOD not. Lori Loughlin was arrested.....taken into custody. Her husband posted a bail of $1 million. Felicity Huffman got out on bail. What they did was commit a FELONY! They collaborated and colluded and conspired to commit FRAUD. I cannot imagine a situation in which they don't get some punishment far greater than a slap on the wrist. I cannot fathom that their kids be allowed to stay in college when how they got there was due to fraud. The kids KNEW. Remember you live in Ohio and I'm in California. The home of USC and UCLA. You give $5 million for a building with your name on it to be built on campus and your kid becomes a LEGACY kid and gets in. That is the way the rich have always bought the educational opportunity for their kids who were second rate and couldn't do it on their own merits. We KNOW that. But to take photos of them playing sports they don't play in fake uniforms they don't wear? To get someone inside to grant them a sport scholarship to get in?. To carry on the charade when the kid doesn't even pretend to play the sport or learn it? For their rich daddies and mummies to pay say $500 grand to fake all of this and DENY the kids who worked their butts off and didn't get in? We are seriously outraged. So if what you say comes true I am going to be so incensed and what I do from there or what the rest of us do I cannot predict. But we sure as he** ain't gonna take this lying down. No rollovers here. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday.  I hope no college in your state is involved. It will get you very majorly pissed too. SIGH. I just cahn't stend it!  :( This post was edited by RosieG at March 13, 2019 1:38 PM MDT

It doesn't matter what school it was done at. Even our own crappy University. Money always talks.

I know. It's just that education...teachers...universities. That's my cuppa tea. It always has been and always will be. Since forever I have believed that teaching is the most noble profession. It is my teachers who helped to bring me out of my shell in grammar school. They believed in me. They saw something in me that I never did. In high school too. If it were not for them I do not whom I would have become. So when education is sabotaged or undermined or tainted or attacked I am enraged and heartbroken. That is why I cannot abide liddle billionaire betsy de vos. Secretary of education! What  a terrible selection!. Promiscuously and wantonly focusing on voucher education so parents can "choose" where they want their kids to go to school. Guess who loses BIGLY? Public education. She never attended a public school. It's like making her a brain surgeon, giving her a scalpel and telling her go ahead. OPERATE. Anyway I asked a question about who gets sued? The coaches were the entryway of the bribes and if it were done only by them why should the university be sued? This is a real tough one. I don't know when I've been so upset. Even liddle donny dingbat isn't that important compared to this for me personally. Sigh. Thank you for your succinct reply. Apologies for my long-winded one. I keep thinking if I talk about it I'll feel better. Guess what? I don't. :( This post was edited by RosieG at March 14, 2019 10:49 AM MDT

    Sad indeed.

College can be stressful enough without having to demonstrate or live up to abilities in the intellectual or physical areas in which you have no notable natural gifts.

As to the parents---it's like an episode of the cable show, "Evil Lives Here." This post was edited by tom jackson at March 14, 2019 10:49 AM MDT

This is killing me tom. Teaching is the most noble profession to me and always has been. Education is sacrosanct to me. Always has been. That's why I got so upset at liddle billionaire betsy de vos being made Secretary of Education.  She looks down upon public education and pushes vouchers. She NEVER attended public school so she neither cares nor thinks about the kids who can't afford "better". She disgusts me. But this scandal has affected me MORE DEEPLY than anything liddle donny dingbat has done. That's saying a lot. I can't shake off the anger and sadness I feel. The more that is uncovered the bigger it's gonna be I fear. How big? I don't know. Maybe it's everywhere and has been everywhere all the time. I know about legacy kids. Parents give millions to build a building with their name on it thereby ensuring their kids' entry into college. I get it. But this? Changing grades? Having others take the tests? Photoshopping by putting their kids' heads on the bodies of athletes and submitting that as "proof" that their kids were sports athletes? I mean there is so much here that is vile I can't even list all of it.  I don't KNOW all of it. I'm bracing myself. Apologies for the rant. I'll try to do better futurely. Right now though no guarantees. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday!  :( This post was edited by RosieG at March 14, 2019 10:40 AM MDT

Progressives before Scalene.  Long live Progress.

Oh wait.  Felicity Huffman, et. al.; will reign supreme.  They will get their 15 seconds of shame and then nothing.  People who have money will side with them.  After all, they probably have done the same.  The schools probably are used to parents having lobbyists for their kids to get in the door.  Offering all kinds of powerful goodies if Ivanka's brat can enter Harvard and get honors to boot.

Sigh.  Now this?  THIS IS A PROPER RANT.
