Dems and trumpicans accuse one another of CHEATING BY GERRYMANDERING. Probably true. Soluton! STOP GERRYMADERING. DUH?!

If both sides are cheating by Gerrymandering THEY ARE EVEN. If both sides STOP GERRYMANDERING they will be even too without CHEATING. Sometimes a solution is so simple it is embarrassing. This is one of those times. Figger it out folks! Stop doing what you're both doing to cheat and win the old fashioned way. HONESTLY! Scared to try? Oh c'mon! Stop being whinya** babies. GROW UP. Put on your big boy pants. DO THE RIGHT THING! Fer cryin' out loud! SHEESH! :) Whatta buncha wimps! :(

Unfortunately, most states give the power to draw districts to the party in power at the time ... so there is really no incentive for them to do anything other than draw lines that favor their party.  Nor is there incentive for either party to change the law.

The only ways to get a change are:
1 - In states that allow citizen initiatives, citizens get a Constitutional Amendment on how to "properly" draw districts.
2 - File a court challenge against existing state laws.

The problem with #1, is that courts have been striking down citizen initiatives recently ... based on the requirement that the initiative only be allowed 1 "issue", and most laws actually require multiple "issues" to change/correct.

The biggest problem is getting it out of the hands of politicians.
After that, I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult for a computer program to draw districts strictly on population numbers - without taking anything other than headcount into consideration.  IE: No party affiliation, ethnicity, gender, etc, etc.

What would it take to effect that Walt? Getting it out of the hands of politicians? A few simple words representing such difficulty! Thank you for your reply. Once they got it they ain't about to let it go without a bloodbath. Figuratively for sure and maybe even literally. Pols are VICIOUS!  :(

Interesting you should ask. Congresswoman Marcie Kaptur used to have all of Toledo as her constituants. Over the years she has Gerrymandered her way to the border of Cleveland. She is a Dem. West of Toledo Bob Latta's territory. A few years ago the two of them decided to split Toledo. Latta, being a Rep, got the wealthier part of the city and Kaptur got the less well-to-do. Both benefited. Unfortunatly, I am in the middle. The dividing line is three blocks from me and I am in Latta's district. I don't like him. Did they cheat. One could say yes, but again, they both benefited.

They colluded/conspired together E. How can either one of them have cheated or been cheated upon? Just like an open marriage from what I've heard. Each spouse sleeps around all over town with everyone and anyone who is game. Since both are playing around and both know about it neither one cheats nor is cheated. Right? SIGH. Well you got cheated because you don't like him but she literally gave you to him so why would you like her either? I know. It's complicated. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday. Of course I shall have to ask a question about. But you knew that didn't you?

Voting district boundaries are seldom natural or logical so they are all to some extent arbitrary. And usually have been drawn to reflect local interests.  So their manipulation becomes a legal way of producing the desired results.
