is there giant hogweed where you live

its apparently no bueno and we are supposed to call to report but who do i call for a plant
the police?

    I was expecting it to be ugly.  

    We had those in Chicago.  They called them snowballs.  Now that I look closer, they are not the same.  But close enough.   I don't know if they grow here in Arizona, but I have not seen any.  I can't find any.  Oh well....

  • You might be thinking of Queen Ann's lace or wild carrot.  They are all related and look similar but hogweed is 10 x the size. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at April 2, 2019 6:09 AM MDT

    Yeah. I dug some up and roasted and ground it and used it with coffee grounds. Quite good. The flowers are pretty, too.

  • I don't believe it is known in California. Let's keep it out.

    Giant hogweed is native to Caucasia and has spread to Europe at large as well as parts of North America. Its sap is phototoxic, getting it on your skin makes your skin sensitive to UV light and can cause blistering.
