Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» A First! Chicago just elected an openly gay black woman to be its Mayor! Triple threat bravery OR remarkably astute?
All I know is that they can't do a lot worse than what they've done in the past. Chicago and IL aren't known for their honest politicians. I think they have a special wing in an IL prison just for former IL governors ... :)
Chicago has gotten an awful lot of bad press based on the ways things have been run for so long. Maybe this will be the magic moment where change occurs. Fingers crossed here's hoping! Thank you for your reply B and Happy Wednesday to thee! :) ((hugs))
I sure hope you're right Rosie. Chicago gets a really bad "rap" .. it's really a beautiful city ... just not well run in the past. Happy Wednesday to you too my friend! ((hugs))
If the intention is to clean up the Citiy's politics. even some, they are going to have their hands full. I don't know Chicago any more. I grew up there and lived there for 40 years, but that was 25 years ago at least.
Back then, Mayor Daley and his Mafia ruled the City. Then a bunch of ineffective losers like Biandic who no one even remembers entered the fray. I have no idea what is going on now, but those who I know who still live there say it is bad news. Lots of crime.
NO KIDDING. Mayor Daily set the bar for LOW. (I never get the spelling of his name right)

Gay or not is immaterial ...should not honesty come first.... You need to do some thing about corruption of all in power and especially your police force that kills ,knowing that they will never get charged for any crime..... Power corrupts all but the best of us.... And no one prosecutes thier own kind....
Some years ago in East London ,armed police shot and killed a 65 year old man walking home from a pub in the evening....He was just out of hospital and recovering from a stomach operation for cancer when two armed police confronted him by pointing their guns at him.....one then shot him in the head and the other through his hand.... He died and no police man was prosecuted for manslaughter ,because all of his so called colleagues threatened to go on strike if either were brought to justice in any court... No compensation for his murder was ever paid to his family either....
