To be a VP or not to be a VP? That is the question. Which US vice-president ever made a difference? Ever distinguished himself in any way?

Isn't it a dead-end job where all you have to do is agree with the president, never do or say anything untoward, stay in the background and become invisible until called upon to materialize by the side of the prez and smile and bobblehead and look adoringly upon the prez? That's what Pence is and does. Didn't they all?
