I don't know if I saved her life, but I was at a lumber yard and went to the shack to ask for help. A worker was lying there sobbing and blood was pouring from the top of her foot, which she had slashed from a steel band. Blood was everywhere; the large veins were cut. People were standing around gawking. I went in and grabbed her foot to help stop the bleeding while someone finally called for medical help. People were staring at me as I walked into the store covered with blood. I told the manager that his workers should be wearing steel-toed boots. I went back a few weeks later to check on her. She was good and thanked me.
You know E if "large veins were cut" and people were just standing round gawking you absolutely saved her life! So m'dear you made a difference in her life. If you had not been there who knows what would have happened? I don't know how much blood you can lose before you die but by the time medical personnel arrived and started blood transfusions it might have been too late. So you and your brother saved lives. No small thing. Thank you for your sharing that experience with us. You know some of us freeze and don't act. At work once long ago a co-worker started having convulsions. We gathered around and one gal got a spoon, got down on her knees, forced the convulsive girl's mouth open and tried to stop her from swallowing her tongue. I still remember that. I froze. I had no idea what to do. You didn't freeze. You acted. The difference between doers and watchers. SIGH. :) Happy Monday to thee! :)
Wow tom! So in addition to being highly intelligence you are also very BRAVE. I can't even almost imagine my doing that. I've never been in the presence of anyone wielding a gun and I hope I never am. It won't end well. I am terrified of guns. And for having the presence of mind to call a doctor for instructions about what to do for an overdosed person that was also quick thinking. On one occasion years ago I froze. Just stood there immobile not knowing what to do for a person who was on the ground and convulsing. Fortunately someone there did know what to do and did it. I'm gonna ask a question about DOERS and WATCHERS. Thank you for your reply and sharing your experience with us. I appreciate it. Happy Monday! :)
