Irony ... Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the USA.

Yep, the law abiding citizens are sitting ducks for the criminals.

The scary thing about it is that most of the politicians there know this, don't care, and are unwilling to do anything about it. However, what they are more than willing to do is to place more restrictive gun laws on the law-abiding citizens instead of focusing on and putting forth the effort to bring the criminal element to justice. :)

That makes no sense to me Walt. I am not challenging you. I believe you. But when the Aussies restricted gun ownership years ago it worked! The incidence of gun-related murders dropped significantly. So why do strict rules work in some areas and not in others? I'm gonna ask. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday!  :)

What makes you think it "worked" in Australia?

After the gun ban, Australia assaults (40%) and sexual assault (20%) are up as well. Think that has anything to do with disarming victims?

Homicide has decreased by nine percent since 1990 and armed robbery by one-third since 2001, but recorded assaults and sexual assaults have both increased steadily in the past 10 years by over 40 percent and 20 percent respectively. The rate of aggravated assault appears to have contributed to the marked rise in recorded assault, and for both assault and sexual assault the rate of increase was greater for children aged under 15 years, with increases almost double that of the older age group.

Notice the source in my link is the Australian government.

I would like to hear ONE fact that you think is a fact.  LOLOLOL  This is doubly ironic considering who you back as proof.   This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at April 9, 2019 11:19 AM MDT

With all due respect to you as a person, this is about facts not who I back or don't back. The facts are there for you to research and see for yourself but if you go through life with your mind and eyes closed, (a trait prevalent in liberals) you'll never see and understand them and will continue to be oblivious to them. And no amount of explanation by me or anyone else on this planet will persuade you to do otherwise. :)

What Facts?  WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU GOING ON AND ON ABOUT?

Do you understand what IRONY means?  That is why I mentioned who you back.

You love facts and you back TRUMP  That is why I do not respect your ideas.  I have nothing against you personally, except you are helping to promulgate a devastation that you are incapable of understanding because facts are not your friend as a rule This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at April 9, 2019 12:26 PM MDT

A lot of anti-gun folks like to trot out the idea of implementing Australia’s gun control laws in the United States. They talk about how wonderful and peachy that kind of situation would be in the U.S. and all that type of nonsense. Could Australia’s gun control laws even be implemented here in the United States? Given the fact that current gun control laws aren’t being enforced, why should we think that adding more gun control laws to the books would change the situation at all? The answer is that we shouldn’t.

Unlike anti-gunners here in the U.S., Australia’s ambassador to the United States, Joe Hockey at least understands that Australia’s type of gun control isn’t going to go over here in the States because Americans love their guns. And part of the reason why we do is that we know that our guns help to keep us safe from our government and the criminal element.

History doesn’t indicate that Australia will have that option when their government completely overruns their rights. Just as our liberal politicians are trying to overrun our rights here in the United States as we speak. Bottom line, this whole gun control fiasco in America is about controlling the people not keeping them safe. :)

Americans love their guns.  FINE.  LET THEM HAVE THEM.  AFTER going through A LOT OF red tape.  A LOT.  I want to know who owns one. I want to know how many. I want to limit the number. I want to totally abolish anything that is automatic.  I want to see a BACKGROUND of every creep that wants a gun and why they want it.

You know. The stuff you do when a person who has no right to own a dangerous weapon actually is allowed the opportunity.

This is a killing weapon and you better have a good excuse for having one.  AND anyone who has young kids must have the weapon locked up in a place that the child cannot get to, or the person who has the gun will have those guns revoked.

    For starters.

I had to spend a SOLID year of going to doctors just to get a Medical Maijuanna Card.  And I am glad for that.  I would do it again.   I am responsible.

You cannot do this for someone who wants a gun?  Then abolish all guns. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at April 9, 2019 11:40 AM MDT

Statistics show that there is a lower crime rate in areas where it is EASIER to get a "Concealed Carry" permit.

    Automatic firearms?
Anybody who wants CAN buy one ... but they have to pass a FEDERAL background check, and pay an additional $200 "transfer tax".
I believe the last time a crime was committed with an automatic weapon was in the 1920's ... Capone, Dillinger, Bonnie & Clyde.
There have been no crimes committed with automatic weapons since the 1968 Gun Control Act.

Chicago is no worse than any other big city.  LA, New York, etc etc.

Everyone has tons of crime.  EVERYONE.

Let's put it much clearer.  There are LESS crimes committed in Chicago in one day than there is in the WHITE HOUSE on ANY day.  ANY DAY. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at April 9, 2019 11:18 AM MDT
