A lot of people are 5 to 6 feet tall physically, but 5 to 6 inches intellectually and / or knowledge wise.

I usually take an aiming shot at about 3 feet and then adjust subsequent comments based on where (if at all) the first shot struck.

When I was younger, I was actually amazed at how many misses I had---now, I expect it.

Hahahahahahahaha! You crack me up tom! I don't expect hilarious in super smart folks. No disrespect intended here but I usually get deadly serious which is fine with me because my default mode is VERY SERIOUS. You know what you just did though don'tcha? When I have an "encounter" with the tangent folks who missed the point I'm gonna be stuck visualizing 5-6 inches tall. I am very toutable. Tell me not to dwell on something and well that's all I dwell on. So thanks a lot! On the other hand it is like visualizing folks naked when you are standing on a stage in front of them and having to make a speech. That does really work and it makes fear disappear. It also makes suppressing laughter dam* near impossible! Thank you for your reply m'dear! I like very funny.  Any more very funny up your sleeve ya wanna share? You are a measurer. I am an eye-baller. I just always scan first and aim for the jugular.  I am shocked at how many times my aim is TRUE.

Measure twice cut once. Thank you for your reply Sharon and Happy Thursday. In baking measuring is critical to success. EXACT measuring and PRECISE use of the ingredients required because there is a science to successful baking that doesn't exist in cooking. An ingredient in baking is often a catalyst to activate another ingredient and you get a chain reaction that you will never get in a pot of soup which you can eyeball all you want and never fail. I was pretty good as a teenager with a 22 single action "Old West" style quick draw---enough to draw attention when I was practicing; and I'm even better shooting from the "lip"

I was trying to use a visual image of "missing the point completely" and settled for a "right over one's head" image.

Unfortunately, my next association was with the information from years ago that terrorists in airports tend to aim at waist level so that they hit the kids too (head shots) as well as the adults.

That's why my answer involved "measurement."
