Do you really feel that is the state of things?

Hooray for the BAD and screw the GOOD is more the way of what is.

That’s not politics. That‘s middle school clique baiting.

Politics is the art of articulating ideas to influence opinion toward a specific position. Politics is mastering the gray area.

In today‘s world, particularly in the failing Trumpworld version, politics is looking for trouble everywhere, creating it where none exists, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy.

The moronic President sees politics as zero sum. Which is ironically a metaphor for his character.   This post was edited by Don Barzini at April 13, 2019 2:11 AM MDT

Think about what you just said DB. How is your description of what I said "middle school clique baiting" any different from what we have? You describe an ideal of "should be". When was it ever that way? The corrupt criminal rises to the top. When not? If good tries to do anything it gets hammered. Here's another grammar school given. "My dad can beat your dad". Stupid bravado without any basis. The Dondonjohn is all about stupid bravado without substance and look at how his supporters defend him. They are not even in middle school. I peg them possibly as first graders. Recess lovers. Ganging up on others. Making fun of others. I stick by my guns. That is what I see. It is to a greater or lesser degree to be sure but it is always arrogant puerile skewed uninformed vile. It's like a garden of "weeds". What chance does a flower have? Sorry but I guess my mood is foul. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday to thee DB! :)

It was my intent to show that politics in its purest form is more than just picking sides and flipping each other off.
Working up a coherent narrative, building consensus. The power of a message and eyeing the common good. The science of it.
The professional exercise of politics has been subverted now, and for some time, as the pitiful Trump amateur hour (as I described) has hijacked and violated our “better angels”. I find that sects of the media are often complicit, but a better brand of politics would bring them to heel as well.

Your summation of the current admin‘s approach is fitting, Rosie,  IMO, but let’s not write off the entire field for this particular bad harvest.
