Why do we tend to be more afraid of what's in the dark than the evil that's in the daylight

One might say it's because you can't see in the dark, yet the evil in the daylight can be just as hidden and closer than you realize.

    I don't always fear what's in the dark more than the evil that's in the daylight. Not everything that's in the dark is evil anyway.
