Can't we use our brains?
it works
Sure, but sometimes we use our brains wrong. Like you putting a capital T on the word 'think' because there is a 'full stop' in front of it (I assume).
To the actual question:
The US had a big success with military might in WW2, it did a great job there. Ending Nazism and Hitlers dream of World dominance. Sadly it seems to have also awakened an American dream of world dominance, as if that was something to dream of ;-))
Have a look at: Triumphalism
I didn't know the US ever thought. Not for the past umpteen dozen decades at least.
You mean Obama the receiver of the Nobel Peace Prize does not know how to do anything without military force?
He is in charge of the military.
People tend to use the best tool they have in their box of tricks.. The USA has a great armed forces Soooo.. If they think the problem can be solved by the use of military force they tend to use that option.. Because it exists and they have it at hand.. Other nations who do not have such a powerful military will chose other options first depending on what they have in their tool box..
Gee, I didn't know we felt that way... I'm pretty sure Europe doesn't see us that way at all !
Good Lord... I think I just agreed with YOU !
Never pass up a chance to take a cheap shot !!!
Please give an example of what you mean by "everything", and how just being nice would work any better.
Realpolitik. When one has an overwhelming advantage in one area it is always tempting to have it as a default. Why would you give it up or opt for a different route which will automatically disadvantage you?
All western empires have had the same issue and have adopted roughly the same approach - in the 19th century it was often known as 'gunboat diplomacy' and the British did a lot of it, usually from offshore. The US is no different in the temptations it's power forces upon it, though public opinion has ensured we have usually seen wars by proxy and support for brutal, undemocratic regimes rather than a solid lines of armour moving across continents.
