Soul too occupies every inch of the body it inhabits and beyond. Souls communicate with one another. Some are silent. They are very lonely and sometimes become evil through lack of loving or being loved.
Physical things have specific physical locations - brain, lung, foot, nose, etc.
The body (in and of itself) is a machine. A solid frame made up of numerous separate parts, connected by joints and overlaid with a muscular fiber compound giving it the ability of locomotion and to pick up or set down objects or loads. This machine is controlled by a central computer. This computer regulates the machine (keeps it running) by controlling air inflow/outflow, as well as maintaining/adjusting internal temperature (s needed). The computer disperses fuel to the various components of the machine, as well as maintains their lubrication. The computer also oversees the machine's self-repair function (internal and external). Like any other machine, this one also requires an operator.
Enter the "soul".
The "soul" is the operator of the machine. The soul is not a physical "something"; therefore, it has no physical "operators’ chair" in the machine. That's why, if a part of the machine is removed (say an appendage), the soul remains intact. The soul is that which loves or hates; is joyous or angry; is friendly or hostile. It uses the capabilities of the machine to express its "desires", moods and passions (“emotions”?). The soul can use its machine to express love and kindness, or it can use it to harm (mentally or physically). While the machine can sense pain (as in ouch), it's the soul that "feels" pain (what we call “mental pain”). A soul generally uses its machine to convey its thoughts, ideas, emotions, (etc.) to other souls (via words, gestures, expressions, etc.). However, they can also “sense” other souls (but that’s another subject).
Machines (bodies) aren't designed to function indefinitely. When a body can no longer support its soul (for whatever reason), its soul "leaves”. We call this separation ‘death’. Without a soul, the machine, despite its grand abilities, cannot function.
Souls were designed (by their Creator) to both love and be loved. When souls don’t feel loved, they become lonely (“unfulfilled”?).
Souls do not start out “evil”. A soul that “turns evil” due to lack of love does so because it wants to lash out against the (perceived) “wrong” done to it.
