"1 dead 3 wounded at California Synagogue. 19-year-old suspect being held." Coming to your town soon if there's a synagogue there. Is there?

Don't know any details. If he was not at Charlottesville chanting "The Jews Will Never Replace Us" then he was probably in sympathy with that view. At any rate another crime of hate. I guess these days in these times hate and fear will  always be what people care about a lot and so it will always be around to surround us. How long before the pendulum swings or is that pendulum broken ?

    I live in an area of NYC that has a large Jewish population.  As a result, there are quite a few synagogues in my area.  At one time, the Jewish population was predominantly European, but it is slowly but surely being replaced by Bukharian Jews.  Many of us think of them as Russian, but they claim they aren't.  They are very insular and rarely interact with the rest of the residents.

    I have heard of "Sephardic" Jews L but not "Bukharian". That is a new one on me! You New Yorkers have sustained so much tragedy and trauma and sadness due to hate I surely hope  Synagogue bombings will not happen in your towns or your state. I think 9/11 was quite enough to handle. Thank you for your reply L and Happy Monday sweetie! :)

    I'm not an expert, but I think Bukharians, who come from Uzbekistan, are more like Sephardic Jews than Europeans Jews.  I don't know that much about them other than they appear to be wealthy and have bought up a lot of the old quaint homes around here, taken them down and built McMansions on the lot.  Many of them are very gaudy with brick walls around them and they've removed much of the lawn areas to make room for cars.  

    This is a photo of what itsprobably the ugliest house - the facade is all blue marble.  This photo is before it was completed.  It is now done and surrounded by black wrought iron  fencing with gold leaf all around.

    Oh my gosh. Restraint isn't in their playbook. Garish? Vulgar? Overdone? Nouveau Riche? OY VEY and AARRGGHH. Thank you for your reply L.  Taste is either horrible adequate or great. I'm thinking the above is either on the lowest end of adequate or hisghest end of horrible. You have seen the Dondonjohn Trump Tower apartment house right? All gold or gold leaf? Now that is among the most AARRGGHH-worthy homes I've ever seen. Thanks for the info m'dear!  :)

    I wish I could have found a photo of what the house looks like without the construction plywood around it.  Believe it or not, it is more garish and uglier than Trump Tower.  I know that's hard to believe, but it's true.

    Garish and ugly is how all WHITE NATIONALISTS roll! The garisher and uglier the betterer! They are all very vulgar people in every sense of that word. Of course garish and ugly is in the eye of the beholder. To them there is no such thing as excess. Thank you for your reply L! :) ((hugs)) Why the hugs? I just felt like it! :)

    There are no Synagogues around here but there is a JW hall. Recently they put up a security fence and cameras and it made me wonder if there are a lot of religions worrying about increasing  hate crimes. I just read a interview with Kellyann and a reporter and it seems like the GOP doesn't want to admit that hate crimes are on the rise. Cheers!

    They don't. The Don sez White Nationalism is no problem. It is not increasing at all. And remember when t hey chanted "THE JEWS WILL NEVER REPLACE US" by torch light in Charlottesville the  Don said there were many fine people on both sides. So what he says goes. Right?     Around here people don't go around shooting at others.  They have arsenals of guns to protect them against their imagined enemies wanting to break into their homes.  That is how half the tragedies in the USA happen.  At least that is what is broadcast in the media.     Sure in a normal logical reasonable time and  place m'dear but in America the Justice System is a joke.  The Don controls all of it 100% and what he says goes including all the way up to SCOTUS. So justice begins and ends with the decisions of Dondonjohn. End of story! Very sad ending. Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday Shuhak! :)

    It's a horrific joke! 

    No, "justice" is controlled by the wealthy (especially wealthy whites).  trump makes a mockery of what he can in washington, but he's not the root of the problem, merely an offshoot.   

    "Justice" in this country is not only colorblind, but is spelled with 2 $'s (Ju$ti$c)
    The wealthy buy "justice" while the poor get shafted. 
    The white wealthy get a slap on the wrist by a judge, while a person of color is given the maximum amount of jail time - for the exact same crime!

    And trust me there are poor whites as well. 

    It is about the money to bribe that cop/pa/judge with. They do not care about any color but green...if they are up for the bribe. Thankfully most are not that way.
