It reminded me bigly of the sb in the White House at present. Though the sb is not handsome at all he is the same person as the main character in the movie who lies and bends and twists truth to gain advantage over the gullible. Slick. The guy starts off as a low-rate carny member. Works his up to big time society where he enjoys enormous success hoodwinking everyone by evil means and then at the end becomes a GEEK. Now do you know what a GEEK is? At the end of the movie (a gratuitous ending written to make the movie more palatable) it seems he will be saved from himself by the love of a good woman. That was a token ending that the author never wrote. The story was too dark. It had to have hope of a happy ending. More lies.
If you like Tyrone Power it's worth a watch. It was made in 1947 and it's so sad that watching it reminds me of the reality in America of the sb prez in 2019. Prescient. SIGH.
