I think in general (there are always exceptions) guys prefer having a guy boss rather than a gal. Do gals prefer guy bosses too?

It never bothered me one way or the other. Neither did age. If I had a REALLY SMART youngster running the show I was ALL IN.  What I could never tolerate was a dumbunny no matter the gender or age. Not my cuppa tea.

I don't think that at all.

I think that you are wrong and since this is just your opinion, I cannot prove that you are.  There is no way to prove this.  There are no studies that refute other studies.  It is just an old wive's tale now.  A lot of men love women bosses and want to work for someone they can maybe start up something with.  A lot of men like to try and undermine a woman.  A lot of men respect women.  So there are a lot of ages and tastes and men.  No one can make a statement like men prefer men bosses and expect it to be okay just because you think it is so.  That sounds like a non reason to me.   This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at May 8, 2019 2:09 AM MDT

    I don't know about generalities.

I do know some people who prefer male bosses ... because that's their religious upbringing.

Personally, I prefer a boss who knows what they are doing, and recognizes that *I* know what I'm doing - and doesn't feel the need to micromanage their subordinates.  I don't care what their gender or age is.

We deal in generalities all the time.  Shortcuts. Also in stereotypes. Shortcuts. Maybe not you but IN GENERAL that is what people do in general. Thank you for your reply Walt an d Happy Wednesday.

Over the course of my career, I've had more female bosses than male ones.  Most of them were better bosses than their male counterparts.

Age now.... that can be a problem for some when the younger person has a know-it-all attitude.  I've worked for young bosses who got their job straight out of college without any experience in the business, and yet thought they knew everything.  These bosses weren't popular with any of the employees.

I had a male boss younger than me who was among the smartest people I've ever met. I adored him. I also was fortunate enough to work with an outside auditor who was young enough to be my daughter. We had an outside CPA firm that audited our books every year. I was an in-house accountant. Her name was MIKI and she was BRILLIANT and she taught me more about how to prepare a great set of working papers each year than any teacher or boss ever did. Any time I had a question I could call her. I was in my 40's and she was in her 20's. Very far from a "know-it-all" but she honestly did know it all Shuhak. I would have followed her to the moon I had so much respect for her and trust in her. She never once talked down to me or made me feel inept. She was very helpful always.  I've mostly had male bosses and the truth is I've always gotten along better with guys than gals. My best friends have been guys starting with my dad. I've been told "you think like a man" which I think is very complimentary so I confess I am prejudiced. I had one woman boss (she and her husband owned the company) and she was possibly bipolar. When she was "up" she was delightful. When she wasn't she wasn't. Thank you for your thoughtful reply and Happy Wednesday. I don't like know-it-alls of any age or gender either. They don't  even know the basics. AARRGGHH! :) This post was edited by RosieG at May 8, 2019 8:41 AM MDT
