The oath all pols take is to protect the Constitution and the implicit serving of the country. Not an ordinary homo sap. Why did they lie?
They all OATHED. Those who don't do what they oathed to do are unpatriotic and duplicitous treasonous traitorous LIARS. What should be done with them and to them for lying betraying sabotaging undermining defying?
They all had their fingers crossed. That nullifies any "oath"... right?
Oaths mean nothing anymore. They're just empty words. if an oath (promise) is going to mean anything, them a herd of lawyers must come up with some sort of document specifying such... down to every jot and tidle. Even then, the signer can always bribe a judge to have it annulled.
The only thing politicians uphold is themselves. It's not what's best for the country, but rather what's best for them. They lie to get elected by claiming they'll help ALL the people, when in fact that's impossible (everyone can't win the lottery). Then once in office, they immediately put their concerns to getting reelected.
So long as lying is the "norm" nothing will change. We lie to our spouse. We lie to our kids. We lie to our friends and coworkers. We see people lying in movies and on TV.. and get away with it. Should It be any wonder that our politicians lie as well?
Let me take an exception here m'dear. "We lie to our spouse". What kind of lie? A lie to cover our own wrongdoing or a loving lie to make him feel better about himself? All lies are not alike. So you cannot put all liars in the same pile of homo saps.
If you lie to deceive or cover your own a** you are a very rotten person. If you lie to protect the feelings or pride of someone about whom you care can you really equate the two in any way?
I know I expect too much in our "leaders". I always have. I expect that they will be more intelligent and kowledgeable than I am. They will be better educated and because they have so many more opportunities to help people they will. I expect them to serve those who count on them to make their lives better.
