Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Parents disown their kids cuz the kids did something they didn't like. Why do kids disown parents? Same reason(s)?
I know one who did so just for money (as far as I can tell).
He was raised by his mom, who had to get by on child support since her health didn't allow her to get a job. So she couldn't buy all the fancy stuff his dad did, or take him on vacations to Disneyland like dad.
Soon as he turned 18, he moved in with dad ... and changed his name to drop her family name. Just because his dad promised to buy him a new sports car and pay for his college. (The dad bought him a 10-year-old Camry, not the promised sports car.)
That is so sad Walt. Instead of loving her for trying her best to do her best for him he opted for greener pastures which turned out to be an illusion. Probably broke her heart. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday. :)
For various reasons, I think kids generally are more forgiving over a single incident that a parent is. But parents have a long time around their children to demonstrate how toxic they can be to their children, and sometimes children have to avoid their toxic parents---either for a short time or permanently.
I have read of kids through legal means declaring themselves "divorced" from their parents. I think they are able to do it at 16. Oh. EMANCIPATED! That's the word. Emancipated as if they had been slaves or in bondage. Whichever way the "divorce" goes it's always sad. Thank you for your reply tom and Happy Thursday! :)
