An Answermugger who was a supervisor said "don't come in with a problem unless you bring some ideas on what a viable solution is."
Think about that. You identify a problem. You can only bring it to your supervisor's attention if you also offer possible workable solutions.
Sound good to you? Why? It seems to me if you have a viable solution why wouldn't you try it first to see if it works? That's what I always did. Something wasn't working efficiently so I examined it and figured out what it might take to make it right and I'd just do it. THEN I'd tell my boss what I encountered and how I solved it in case others encountered it too.
If you have viable solutions why wouldn't you act on them before you bother anyone? Isn't that what you are paid to do? Figure things out?
