Lazy and selfish.  Because so many people are no longer willing to work for what they want but rather think somehow the "government" owes it to them.

  • Obsolete and archaic.

It doesn't support any great progress towards general wealth, independence , and happiness anymore.   When a society no longer promotes or advances those things fire a large majority of its people....  It is obsolete and archaic.  When the society's focus becomes advancing the "society" over advancing the status of the people in it,  it is archaic and obsolete. Indeed  The parallels to Ancient Rome are numerous and hard to miss. There is too little initiative to drive our species forward, what we see is mainly stagnation, complacency, and ignorance of history.

On the edge of a precipice where there is no turning back and the odds of our survival is tantamount to a chess match where two players are both self-serving and blindfolded.  We are hurtling towards inevitable destruction and the only thing that will save us is the HAND OF GOD.

That is what I think and the evidence is in everything you touch, and everyplace you visit.  Just take a look and compare the world of today to the world of just 30 years ago.  We are dying and we deserve it.

From what I am observing, there are so many signs that our society is stumbling toward a grim future, via our manifest stupidity, weakness and petty self-interest. I am not encouraged that we have the means to correct. There may yet be time to move, to mitigate some of the coming storm, but apparently no concerted will to act.
The planks of our civilization are rotting, the very environment is corrupted and dying, and sound leadership is not present. Absent some immediate and large scale retooling, it may in fact already be too late.

I say that we are already lost if we are waiting around for the hand of some deity to swoop in and set it right again. But given the glacial timescale gods are known for, that argument is moot, anyway.

When I said HAND OF GOD, I did not mean it literally.  I mean that something otherworldly that we have never even counted on, may save the day.  And everyone on Answer Mug is going to win the lottery.  Their odds are better than the former example of impending disaster held at bay and saving the planet.   This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at June 2, 2019 11:45 AM MDT
