Yes and no.  The record is something like 143 (in 24 hours).  In comparison 24 isn't that many.  Then again, even 1 can obliterate a town.
I think the main problem is that they're training... that is to say they're occurring over the same stretch of land repeatedly (this also promotes flooding).

Never heard the word "training" used in that context before Shuhak. I have never experienced even ONE and so I cannot imagine experiencing 24! What I don't understand is why people keep rebuilding in the same areas where they were wiped out. Do you? Or is it that there is no safe place and you take your chances wherever you are? Thank you for your reply! :) Have you ever experienced a tornado? If so what's it like? This post was edited by RosieG at May 22, 2019 9:53 AM MDT

I would love to see a tornado - from a safe distance.   Tornadoes in this area are rare.  Back in the 90's a tornado (F-0) formed several miles down the road from here, but it jumped over this town and landed by the next town over and rapidly dissipated.  no damage.  I tried to get a look at it, but due to all the trees and hills, I saw nothing.  :(

The people there would ask why we rebuild in the same place after an earthquake.
