Facebook refuses to remove a doctored video of Nancy Pelosi. Say they're not in the business of judging. OK with you?

Here's the problem Folks who only see it on FAUX NEWS will tweet it nd retweet and retweet  because I doubt that FAUX will tell their devoted views it's a hoax a lie a fake a phony. That is their only source of "news" and lies are what FAUX sell. So you can't blame them for not knowing any better because they view only what they are told to view and you know the sb  prez limits it to FAUX and all the "news" that ain't fit to print because it ain't news it's ALL LIES.

So y'all go to FC nd spread lies too right? What could it hurt. You'l snag saps who love to believe lies and spread the word like wildfire and convince EVERYONE that Nancy Pelosi is a drunk or on drugs or addlepated. How swell. How fun. Sanctioned lying. Why not?

    Really....when was this.
Do you have a link? Or at least who reported on it?

I heard the story on NPR this morning.
The video has been altered to run slow, so it appears she is slurring her speech.
According to NPR, Facebook has flagged the video as fake - but has chosen not to block or remove it.
Facebook has also allegedly posted links showing the video to be fake.

OK thank you. I found it. LOL  It is definately fake news.

That said I do not think FB or any other social media should be in charge of censoring or even verifying something as fake or real news. That is the peoples job. I do not want any web site or government doing the verification of media.

I did not know that. So it is fake but FB tells you it is fake. Better than nothing but not as good as removing it would be.

I'm conflicted on whether they should remove it or not.

On the one hand, it is fake.
On the other hand, by leaving it up but flagging it - you know which people are spreading fake stories.

I'm going to make a cake and it requires milk and eggs among other ingredients  Walt. The milk is soured and the eggs are rotten but as I long as I let you know it's a go? If you KNOW something is remiss why would you not want to get rid of it? Would you eat that cake KNOWING it was made with spoiled milk and rotten eggs? Different strokes Walt. Thank you for your reply! :)

If I know you're using bad ingredients for cooking - I'm not going to eat any food you bring to a potluck.

If I know who is spreading false stories on FB, I'm not going to rely on any information they provide (even off FB).

I have some relatives who constantly share ANY outrageous story they come across, through their Facebook page.
I am constantly linking debunking information to ones that are false.
My debunking has a few results:
1 - They stop posting stories, unless they check for accuracy.  (Best outcome)
2 - They continue posting, but my debunking lets all their other "friends" know the truth.
3 - They "de-friend" me, so I no longer see their posts.

  • Who needs doctored videos? Ole Nancy talks like she's scatterbrained without the help of drugs, alcohol or special effects. I'm still laughing about the whole thing because I can't take Pelosi seriously, drunk or sober. If that had been a stab at Trump, you'd be swearing it was the truth carved in stone, brought down from Sinai by Moses himself. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at May 28, 2019 9:44 AM MDT

So sorry for your recent loss, Rosie. Isn't that much more significant than a dumb story about some video? Where do you get whatever it takes to generate your faux outrage du jour?
