Who is your favorite movie monster? (Not Trump, fake monsters)

That's really a hard question for me to answer.
    :)

The first movie to enter my head was "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (though I like all of the movie versions I've seen of this story, it was the 1978 remake that really scared me). The idea of the monsters invading our own bodies and anyone around us could be one -- scary to me.

But I'll answer with the monster in the original "Cloverfield" movie.

That movie really scared me -- I stopped watching movies for over a year. The movie's premise, in case you didn't see it - in a New York City apartment, a guy is filming his friend's going-away party. Then some godawful noise happens outside. The guy, along with all the apartment people go outside and this guy ends up filming what turns out to be a horrendous event all over the city.
The monster scares me, in large part (and kudos to the movie director), because we never see the monster. Because the whole movie is simply the video that was found by chance in Central Park -- we, the audience, are watching what the guy filmed. He and his friends have no idea what is going on ,as they are experiencing it.

And I had purposely had avoided knowing anything about the movie before I went - - I, too, had no idea what was going on. The movie certainly scared me a lot. I've since found out not so many people had quite the same scared reaction as I had.

The gif here -- yeah, that's the head of the Statue of Liberty

Just so you know, Welby?  ALL of your quest6ions are over my head and hard to answer.   LOL.   I have seen about 1/20th of the movies you have seen.  And the music you have heard.  And I watch a lot of stuff and hear a lot of tunes.

And you have introduced me to a marge amount of stuff -- I've still not seen that Gone Baby Gone movie. (I think that was the title.
    :)
And Florence and the Machine's "Dog Days Are Over" -- such a great song and video!! Had never heard of them until you shared it here.

Yeah, we'd have a great time just sitting and sharing movies and music we like!

That would have scared the bejesus out of me.  The story you told about this movie reminded me of so many other scary movies I had forgotten all about.  Wow.  Alien scared me to death.  Imagine being stuck in a ROCKET SHIP with that thing?  LOL  I had NEVER seen a monster like that and I was (the artist in me) thrilled with the concept that artist came up with.  IT was all the things of a modern nightmare.  No more old fashioned Japanese Godzillas here.  We have a Metal Insect who Drools.  That is the three things I remember about that thing.  No one could kill that.  It was indestructible.  And it was pregnant.  It had a boyfriend somewhere in space.

That is, before she probably devoured him.

    And acid for blood . . .

Yup - - particularly,  those first three movies scared me, too - - "Alien," "Aliens," and "Alien3."

I'd had enough after the first one.  After the baby came out of the chest, I was done.  LOL

And I declare your life is complete with seeing just the original one!
    :)
    Such a great movie!

Maybe I'll pm you with my thoughts, without plot spoilers, about my admiration for the "Aliens" and "Alien3" movies.

    Yes, that chest-bursting scene - -- wow

And this little scene, in particular,  just set me on edge - -

    PLOT SPOILER!!! "ALIEN" !!!!

'Ash' - the crew member who ended up being a robot sent on board to protect the alien - - the rest of crew is interviewing him  -- well, interviewing his head  - - and especially (the WONDERFUL-AS-ALWAYS-TO-ME) Veronica Cartwright as 'Lambert' says to Ash - "You admire it")

the scene quietlyknocks my socks off
    :)

(hey, take care, be well -- I'm off to work now)
    :)

(Hey, what was that movie you've mentioned several times on the site -- you thought it was really good but disturbing? Gone, Baby, Gone - - or Gone Girl - or something like that? i know whatever it is, I've not seen it.)

This guy will never know the joy of going to work in traffic, getting a divorce, paying alimony, dying of cancer.  So, I kind of see his point of view.

hmmmmmmmmmm  let's see.....I grew up in the 1950's & saw EVERY 3D movie that came out...loved'em!!

but to answer your question, one of my faves is CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON!!  IN THE original 3D at the theater it was WONDERFUL!!

& in case anyone's wondering, the monster was actually a swimmer from a FL college......wow imaging swimming in that costume!! he was excellent, whoever he was!

also loved "Day the Earth Stood Still'  by the way, this IS STILL A GOOD MOVIE!!!!  see it if you get a chance!!
and the robot? scared the hell out of me.....hey, I was only 9!! lol....
