Scott Peterson (School officer at Parkland) being charged with inaction during the school shooting. Should he be convicted?

    I think it will depend on if the state law specifies that the SRO was to follow the National protocol on active shooters.  Which is to go immediately to the shooter not wait for backup or establish perimeter etc. I know they have stated the SRO did receive that training. 

    One thing he will have in his defense is that in the past he was SRO at the same school and there was a possible shooter (it was some kids with firecrackers or something) and he did the same thing: stayed outside claiming to establish a perimeter. He should have been fired then buy perhaps that is when they sent him for training on active shooter protocols.

    There is also another deputy charged because of his failure to respond. He heard the call on his radio but ignored it and just sat in his vehicle.
