You can't put Psycholgy in that list. It is a genuine study, albeit into one of the most difficult and random of natural subjects.

The rest are all just faiths or beliefs in non-provable ideas, and whilst religion's roots attempt to answer genuine, strong spiritual needs, the rest are just fortune-telling with fancy names.

I will take your word for that Durdle although I do believe there are just as many QUACK psychoanalysts/psychologists/psychiatrists as there are QUACK conspiracy theorists, QUACK  child care experts, QUACK politicians, QUACK hypnotists. QUACK rules in every profession. Do you know of any profession where QUACKS are not successful and become very wealthy specifically because they peddle crap that the "ordinary" homo sap adores? One profession? There are QUACK accountants and QUACK lawyers and QUACK investment brokers and QUACK builders and QUACK engineers and QUACK teachers and QUACK cops etcetera etcetera and so forth. The brain is very complex and complicated and who sez what a psychologist tells you is any truer than what you think? I'm sorry to say that and I mean no disrespect to you. But there are marriage counselors who have affairs with their clients at the same time as they are counseling them. Ethics/morality/integrity/honor/truth is not their strong suit. QUACK is everywhere. The sb prez is a QUACK whom millions adore and believe in. Go figger! Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday! :)

I am sure you are right, but that is about the people, not the science itself.

I don't know if it's encouraged in your country by having to pay for all treatment, so there is plenty of chance for the quacks to exploit the system. You can pay privately for psychological / psychiatric treatment in Britain but it's also available on the NHS, via referral from your General Practitioner - I know because I have had to use it.

I do not excuse bad behaviour in any profession, be it medical, the building trades or services like finance and marriage-counselling; but the bad apples are the minority, and though they bring their professions into disrepute those disciplines themselves are not intrinsically wrong.

As for your president, I can assure you no-one here thinks any less of the USA or the post of Presidency. We all know what Trump is like, and he demonstrated it here in Britain, but that is the man himself, not the role.
    '

One amusing aspect of his State visit was that he called reports of the demonstration against him, "fake news" - I wish he'd learn what "fake" means - apparently unaware that as a BBC News report revealed, the demonstration was all over much of the US media! I don't think it was actually all that big, and don't think he saw it, but it did happen.

Do I support that demo? NO. I don't have much respect for Trump and he behaved very rudely, but I've no time for childish demonstrations either. Nor come to that did I support the Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, and one or two other leading politicians boycotting the State Banquet. Just because your guest is clumsy and rude, doesn't mean you have to be clumsy and rude too.
