If someone can read and write do YOU believe he/she is LITERATE? What if he/she does not undertstand comprehend grasp anything?

Is such person still LITERATE to you even when comprehending understanding grasping what those words mean is MIA?

Since you insist on bogarting the site with your questions, I have no choice but to answer them.

Being literate does not involve what someone interprets words to mean unless the meaning is so OFF, that the person is interpreting another language.

Comprehension does play a part.  You must understand what you are reading UP TO A POINT.  But, who evaluates?  Who is there to judge just how much gibberish a person really is digesting.

We have a total idiot in office who cannot even talk.  Reading reflects just how little he knows.  The only word I can use that kind of describes it although it is considered insulting to mentally handicapped people, is RETARDED.  I do not consider using that word an insult.  It is accurate and describes a condition where someone has no ability to grasp and develop concepts.

That is TRUMP.  He is retarded.  No other word for it.

  • I've got news for 'ya. You can be a Ph D and be a complete idiot. Just drop by any college or university, take your pick, and see if it isn't true. Part of being able to walk around and chew gum at the same time, is knowing that there is a difference between intelligence and literacy.
