I am appalled that Trump may use executive order to make an end run around the SCOTUS.  At what point does Congress throw a net over him and declare him unfit for office?

Well, if that's why they were elected, I'm not surprised if voters are disappointed.  Most of them couldn't find their behinds with two hands.

Trump is just following in the footsteps of President Andrew Jackson.
When SCOTUS ruled in a way he did not like (Worcester v Georgia), President Jackson responded: "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!" This derives from Jackson's comments on the case in a letter to John Coffee, ". . . the decision of the Supreme Court has fell still born, and they find that they cannot coerce Georgia to yield to its mandate."

Really, SCOTUS is powerless to enforce any of their decisions.
Congress has the power of the budget.
The President has the power of force (military, police, armed agents).
But the Judiciary has to rely on their decisions being enforced by one of the other branches.
This is obviously a flaw in our Constitution, where the Founders relied too much on the "honor system".

    Yeah.
If you read that Worcester v Georgia case ... even though the SCOTUS said the Georgia law was unconstitutional, the state decided not to release Worcester and nothing was done to any government official for going against SCOTUS' decision.

Well, back in Jackson's day, there was clearly more honor.

... but Jackson basically told the SCOTUS to shove their ruling where the sun don't shine.
So I don't know if your statement is accurate.

Here is what is accurate.  You see how people on here are reacting?

That is how his polls will plummet.  FAST and FURIOUS.  AN EXCELLENT DEBATING POINT FOR THE DEMS.  Unless we pick Biden who will forget to mention it.

Or he was protecting the "big money" interests at the time ... as the "Georgia Gold Rush" started in 1828, and the case was in 1832 - during the time the US Government was starting the forcible relocation of native tribes out of the area (aka "Trail of Tears").

If Jackson would have followed the SCOTUS ruling ... he would have been obligated to abide by existing treaties between the British and tribes, prior to the Revolution.  Which would have meant viewing the tribes as sovereign nations that the US government and State of Georgia had no authority to remove from their land.

To me, it appears Jackson acted out of greed and hatred.

Now that you've explained this more, I agree that Jackson was greedy, but he wasn't the only one.  Everyone that came after him and pushed the Native Americans further into reservations was equally guilty.  We failed to honor just about every treat signed with them.  We did a terrible thing to them.
