I've met men who've said they benefitted from anger management classes. They all said the key was being really motivated.
No. Anger is definitely not just a manifestation of being Bi-Polar. Many Bi-Polars do spring more readily to irrational rages while at the hight of a manic phase; and a few of these can be homicidal. But bi-polars are only 1% of the population and issues of domestic violence and brawling are much more common than that.
There are several causes why men can have difficulty in self-restraint when angry: PTSD, abuse by one or more parents during childhood, alcoholism, amphetamines and ice, and control addiction are the most common reasons. Another common one is a mistaken idea from fundamentalist sects of religions about what it means to be a man and a leader or head of the household.
Well the men who are totally off base about what it means to be a man are aided and abetted by women who allow them to be/do/harm. They are the women who get beaten up or do nothing to protect their children from incest or other forms of abuse. The man is the god and has the final word. "STAND BY YOUR MAN" is a bullsh* salute to that crap. Abusive men would not exist if all women fought back and refused to take it. But they don't. They quote you the Bible. They are subservient submissive substandard and very poor at being protectors. They wear hair shirts and must believe it is what they deserve and their lot in life. Thank you for your thoughtful reply bw. I'm going to ask if men are as often the target of abusive women. :)
