None. Most pickles contain dill. You've seen the seeds floating around in the jar. Dill has an interesting aroma. I once grew a 6 foot tall dill plant. In fact, I always have some growing up from last year's crop.
I love the smell of dill but outside of doing my own pickles and throwing it on burgers as a garnishment of sorts I'm wondering if I'll actually use a 32 oz container of it within the next 10 years.
It was bequeathed to me after being rejected by several others. I've had dill weed before but we're talking in little tiny 3 oz jars/baggies. This is a 32 oz container that an acquaintance thought I might want since I cook quite a bit. Why the previous owner had so much dill I imagine I'll never know. They never even used it......it is still sealed.
You could always save it for the next white elephant gift exchange. Your co-workers would really appreciate that. The downside of that is that you might get it back the following year :/
Trust me the idea of re-gifting a huge container of dill weed has already crossed my mind. If I knew the right people I think it could become a lasting comedic tradition. Unfortunately I don't know the right people.
Last year or so, DILL weed went up in the grocery stores to such an insane level that it was ridiculous. It cost about 15 bucks for a small herb jar. And now it is back to semi-normal in price. Prodigal could have made a killing had he known. He could have peddled it black market style in front of the Sprout's Grocery Store.
Spinach dip with beau monde and dill. I could send you the recipe but you'll have to make hundreds of gallons of it before you'd use up that much dill. There's a dill salad dressing that's pretty good too.
Haha yea I have a spinach dip recipe that calls for dill but it just uses a pinch.....it seems like my best bet if I hold onto this thing is pickling and/or selling it on the streets.
