Skin color does matter bigly. Really. Wanna know WHY?

The skin of field workers darkened in the sun. White skin was associated with social status. If your skin was white it marked you as a person of leisure, wealth, influence.

White rules to this day and that is why it matters in skin color.

You could tell what kind of life a person led by the color of his/her skin. Most folks then as they do today prize white skin. The more things change the more they stay the same.

... I believe that's where the term "redneck" originated.  (sunburned/tanned necks from working outdoors)

Yes I had heard that before Walt. Well I was trying to find out why WHITE represents purity innocent virginity and so I stumbled upon white skin and why it was so prized. Did you know that people so highly prized it they would put harmful things on their skin to lighten it? I did not know that. Now that I do it makes total sense. And it had to do with SOCIAL status not race. So I was way off base. Not the first time! Thank you for your reply!  :)
