    Hello Rosie:

Nahhh..  I don't need to consult a book in order to know right from wrong.

Why? You don't know right from wrong m2c? God gives us a brain to use to figure things like that out. Not everything is available from books. Some of it can only come from the use of common sense. Who gave us that? Exactly. The Bible is the word of God as interpreted/stated by a variety of imperfect men over many years' time. Our common sense  comes from within us and where do we come from? Exactly. Thank you for your reply! :)

The Ten Commandments pretty much covers it all. The rest is man made. I don't believe God said "Jews...you can't eat pork." I have a mind of my own when it concerns man laws.

The reason pork was not allowed is because you could get trichinosis from eating it. So it was a health issue. I guess trichinosis is no longer a problem Ele. Pork was considered to be "unclean". My grandmother would not eat it. We are  Armenian Apostolic but she grew up with that belief as well. So maybe it's a middle eastern belief. My aunt once played a terrible trick on my grandmother. She fixed the meal and it was pork roast or something.  My grandmother ate it and thought it was delicious. My aunt told her what she had eaten and she threw up and was ill for a few days. What a rotten trick that was. My grandmother never forgave her for that. My aunt didn't do it to be mean but it was a mean thing to do.  Thank you for your reply Ele! :)
