    I don't buy it.
The vast majority of party members are going to vote for their party candidate, no matter what.
That is why the vast majority of Republicans voted Trump.

What's interesting to me is ... where are the testimonies from people who were allegedly influenced?
IMO, it's more of the "a vote for a 3rd Party is a wasted vote" propaganda.
In other words, people didn't vote how we wanted so they must be idiots who were duped.

I'm not saying the Russians didn't try to influence the election.
I just don't see any evidence that they succeeded.

BTW - here's an interesting breakdown, by the BBC:
    https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37922587
The last 4 paragraphs, I find most interesting.

You know what I think?  I think numbers are totally fake.  That  is what I think.  Forget fake news. There are so many polls out there that contradict one another that it is INSANE.

I have heard people on TV who claim to have predicted successfully the last 20 elections say that Trump will win 20/20.  Numbers are RANDOM.  Meaning there is no way in HELL that any number can predict what people will do and who people will vote for.  NONE.

We have voter obstruction, we have Russia, we have ignorance, we have acts of God, we have insecurity from one minute to the next and no one is voting for their party any more.

That was in the olden days.  No one even knows who the hell their party is any longer. ESPECIALLY the TRUMP party.  Where is the GOP?  GONE WITH THE WIND.

"... no one is voting for their party any more."

You may not have faith in numbers, but when all polls I find counter that statement, I tend to believe the polls.
Over 85% of Democrats voted for Clinton.
Over 85% of Republicans voted for Trump.

For whom did INDEPENDENTS and FENCE SITTERS vote Walt? Of course you vote party. That is a NO BRAINER and goes without saying. But the ones who are undecided don't need much to push them over the edge. You will never know who was influenced because they will never know if the "information" they believed was bullsh** crap or the truth. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday. The trumpicans insist no votes were changed. Maybe not AFTER THE FACT OF VOTING but how do you know for whom someone could have voted  and didn't BEFORE THE FACT? How do the saps know they were saps? They won't. They never do. I rest my case. . This post was edited by RosieG at July 31, 2019 1:36 AM MDT

If you are talking Independent Party ... they voted slightly over 45% for each of the two major candidates.

If you mean independents not officially aligned with any party, I haven't seen that number in the polls I looked at.

Definitely not me, but not just because I am not an American anyway.

I do not and would not dream of using Facebook, for a start. For anything. Nor Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp. or LinkedIn. This and Similar Worlds, plus two or three special-interest sites, yes, but these differ significantly in purpose, business-methods and level of invasion, from Facebook.

More importantly, I would NOT allow my election decisions to be swayed by spurious posts and the ovine brains of so-called "influencers" on any "social media" site. I read proper reports, I listen to news and current-affairs programmes including direct interviews with these people and analysis by external political reviewers; to decide by what the candidates and politicians themselves say and do, and by their Party's performance so far in Government or Opposition as the case may be.

As for Twitter, I have no time for politicians using it as a cheap escape from communicating their ideas, policies and plans in a proper and (if you are lucky) analytical way.

Ditto. Me too Durdle! Me too! Every word you write I support 100%! :) YOU ARE MORE AMERICAN in your views than MILLIONS of chumpettes who believe in him and embrace absorb every lie he tells and every lie his surrogates tell on every internet site. They love him for his contempt for rules and deeply longly-held racist views .He is their guy! True Americans would never do that. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday to thy! :) This post was edited by RosieG at July 31, 2019 3:44 AM MDT
