Five years ago an unarmed Eric Garner was illegally chokeholded TO DEATH and the killer walked or was gonna. Now?

Maybe he'll be fired. Is that enough punishment? What would YOU rather have done? It may still not be done. I dunno. Disgusting comes in many sizes and flavors. Getting away with murder? That's gotta be among the toppest! :(

He should have been fired. Because the NYPD had a rule of stay away from the neck. So chokehold/takedown hold etc not allowed.

He was not chokeholded to death. Garnder was resisting arrest. The office put him in a choke/take down hold (illegal in any case) They put him face down on the ground. During this he said I cannot breathe. He could not breathe because the hold and being in a prone position caused him to have an ASTHMA attack and heart condition.  Ambulance was called he died an hour later at the hospital. (NOT while in a chokehold)

    1. Do not resist arrest.
    2. Office do not use the neck if it is forbidden by you department.
    3. A forced take down by the legs of a 350# man could also have caused an asthma attack. And the same result.

It really comes down to DO NOT resist arrest. The police are in charge and it will end badly for you.
If the officer is in the wrong still do not resist. Wait and file charges against the officer adterwards. (After you are released...on bail or whatever)
My husband did this years ago. We know it works...the officer was fired.
I have explained this to my kids as well. Do not resist, do not be rude and make sure they can always see your hands. If you don't you could be shot etc.
