Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Do you get offended when anyone says "no offense intended"? Do you think they lie when they deny? Why bring it up elsewise?
In a free society, every one is intitled to their opinion ,no matter what it entails Rosie....Good or bad ,it's what they think and what freedom of speach is all about ...
That's not the question I asked D. Are YOU offended? Or do you want me to infer from your reply that you are not ever offended? Is that what you mean by your answer? Of course everyone is entitled to an opinion. Do some opinions offend you or never ever? Thank you for your reply!
Hard to answer that one correctly Rosie....it's a thing of the momentI suppose ....I'm offended by stupid or pointless reasons or attitudes and people that start arguments just for the sake of it or just because they can..
Of course, the original justification of "free speech" was that we could allow stupid people to voice their opinions because there were smarter people listening to them and then realizing that what they were saying was worthy of being ignored.
The only thing that offends me is stupid opinions.
Occasionally I say "no offense intended"---but only if someone has totally misinterpreted what I said; and since I say it too, I tend to give others the benefit of the doubt when they say it..
Occasionally I do say "no offense intended---but what you just said is absolutely ridiculous."
In real life, I tend not to suffer obvious fools gladly.
